When director Anurag Basu spotted the 18-yr old Kangana Ranaut with her unusually curly hair at a Mumbai café, he would scarcely have believed that she would carve a niche for herself in the industry. The actress had previously been working as a model in Delhi and later shifted to working in the theatre. The moment Anurag Basu chose her as the female lead in 'Gangster,' her rise to stardom had begun.
She received rave reviews for her performance in her debut, including winning a Filmfare Award for the Best Debutante. From then on, offers have kept coming her way. She later followed it up with 'Woh Lamhe' and was signed again by Basu for 'Life in A Metro' which was again successful and her performance was acclaimed. This was followed with a string of hits like 'Fashion', 'Raaz- the Mystery Continues' and 'Tanu Weds Manu' which established her popularity as a bankable actress.
In a career that has spanned 5 years and more than 12 films, Kangana has experimented with a wide variety of roles, ranging from troubled characters in films like 'Gangster', 'Woh Lamhe' and 'Fashion', to characters like the stubborn and strong-willed girl in 'Tanu weds Manu' and an investigative officer in the recently released 'Game.' And upcoming releases will see her in even more varied roles as a lighthearted New Yorker in 'Happy New Year,' in an action role in Priyadarsan's 'Tez' and a doctor in Ram Gopal Varma's 'Department.'
Over the years, Kangana has earned a reputation as being a hardworking and versatile actress among many people in the industry. Mani Shankar described how she would do umpteen rehearsals before a take. Anand L Rai, who worked with Kangana in 'Tanu weds Manu', remarked that she had a childlike enthusiasm towards her work. Amod Mehra, the trade analyst, remarked that Kangana has matured a great deal as an actress and has sharpened her skills in portraying characters effectively. Her place in tinsel town has been given a boost with the success of the recently released 'Tanu weds Manu.'
As is usual with celebrity life, Kangana Ranaut has also had her share of controversies. She once turned up at a party hosted by Salman Khan in Bangkok uninvited and was rumoured that she was constantly trying to create friction between Amisha Patel, who is a good friend of the Dutts, so that she can get closer to them. More recently, she was reported for put down down conditions for donning a bikini in David Dhawan's 'Rascals'. For the last one, she retorted saying that the director never approached her to wear a bikini.

Do You Know How To String A Guitar?
Hey Everyone, in this article we will be going over the best practices of how to string a guitar. Sure you might be thinking why do I need instructions on changing strings?
You should at least know the basics before changing strings on your guitar or you could do unnecessary damage to it.
When changing your guitar string there are some tools that are very helpful; wire cutters, needle nose pliers and string winder.
How To String A Guitar - Warnings
Before you start here are a few warning that you should be aware of.
1. When changing guitar strings never leave strings off for an extended period of time not even over night. It could warp the neck. Sometimes when changing string it is necessary to take them all off for cleaning. Be sure to get the strings back on as soon as you can.
2. Always take tension off of string before removing. Never cut while under tension.
3. Guitar String are very sharp so be sure to keep your face clear of the strings. Also Be sure to discard of old strings and string ends properly. Never leave them laying around.
How To String A Guitar - String Types
First thing is first. Are you a beginner? It is suggested that beginners use a lighter or smaller string gauge because it will be easier for them to hold the string down.
What style of music are you playing? The reason I ask this is because there are different strings for different styles. Please Keep in mind the chart below is for electric guitars only. For acoustic guitars you should contact your local music store for the best advice.
Rock Music: 12 to 13 GA
Heavy Metal: 10 to 11 GA
Blues: 10 to 13 GA
Country: 9 to 11 GA
Jazz: 10 to 13 GA
It is not always as simple as the chart above, some guitar string manufactures mix their string set sizes. What I would suggest is to go to your local music shop and talk to the people there. Tell them what you want and expect and they should be able to hook you up with the right set. I would suggest getting a few different sizes and start with the lighter ones and move you way up to what feels comfortable to you.
Personally I like and use D'Addario XL Nickel Wound 9 Gauge on my fender Strat. They sound nice and bright and are easy to bend. I like to play Metal and Rock.
How To String A Guitar - Changing Strings
Step 1. Remove Only one string at a time starting with the low E. Just simply loosen the string until there is enough slack to cut with wire cutters. Then Remove string from both tuning key and bridge.
Step 2. Install new string through bridge. Now make sure the hole in the tuning peg is facing the key on the head of the guitar. To find the length of the string simply just take it up to the 2 key past the one you are changing and put a 90 degree bend in it. Use needle nose pliers to make bend.
Step 3. Now Stick the string through the hole of the tuning peg. (Turn tuning key counter-clockwise when putting on new strings) Now you will want to hold tension on the string as you start winding.
To do this simply place your index finger of your right hand over the string on top of the nut and use the rest of the fingers to hold the tension Always make sure that the string is being wound correctly on the pet. The string should be coming out of the peg to the nut on the bottom of the stack.
Step 4. Now that the string is tensioned you can tune the string with a guitar tuner or by what ever method you prefer.
Step 5. Repeat the above step for each string.
Step 6. Now that you have all new strings on your guitar you will need to stretch the strings to help seat them. To do this put the index finger of your right hand under the string up by the neck and first pickup, then pull string up 1 to 1.5 inches. Do this for each string and re-tune. You may have to do the several time.
Step 7. Now your guitar is tuned. All that is left to do is cut off the extract length of string on the tuning pegs. Leave about 1/4 of an inch. The reason we do this last is because if the strings stretch and they are cut to short you will waste a string. So be sure to always cut the extra string off last.

There are a bunch of things to playing guitar besides actually playing. You need to gain the skill to appreciate the guitar itself, and other guitarists. You need to be able to feel music.
Why do I need to appreciate other guitarists and the guitar itself? That sounds stupid
It does sound stupid, but knowing values will teach you a lot. Most people who play guitar, stick with it, and end up playing the rest of their life were inspired by another guitarist. What would happen if that guitarist didn't exist? You wouldn't be playing the guitar would you? Without inspiration, nothing would bring you to do it. You need to appreciate other musicians even if you don't like them. It's a value as part of being a guitarist.
Why do I need to appreciate the guitar itself?
You need to appreciate the guitar itself, because a guitar isn't easy to make. Even though Squier Strats aren't the best guitars out there, you still need to appreciate them. Guitars are more complex then you think they are.It takes many people, and resources to make a guitar. From the wood, to the inlays, fret bars, finish, wiring, tuners, nut, the writing on the headstock, the selector knobs, bridge, saddle, the pick plate, etc. Each of these has to be developed and assembled. One of the most complex parts of a guitar is the truss rod. The truss rod is a metal bar that runs through the neck, and allows you to customize the bow of the neck. (How much it bends down in the middle.). It's not easy to make a guitar, and you need to appreciate it to fully understand the guitar, how it works. Understanding the guitar will give you values as a guitarist and help you understand how to feel the music it creates.
Lets take a look at music for a second.
It doesn't matter if your playing thrash metal, rock, speed metal, alternate, you need to understand blues and how it works. Blues is the origin of all those genres, it's roots. Listen to a little blues. I have a deep hatred of blues, but just listen to it! It's not going to kill you. You might even find out you like it. When you start to understand blues, you'll understand more about the guitar, how to understand and work with the music it created. When you understand a little bit more, you'll know a lot better values and how to feel the music your trying to create. Every music has a basis. The basis of guitar today is blues. Unless your playing something that's lasted thousands of years, like classical, your going to want to study blues. Trust me, after all of this work. You WILL know how to feel music and appreciate it. You will never be able to feel music and guitar if you don't appreciate them.
